PR Campaign of 2012
RED BULL STRATOS
hie guys,
Someone recently asked me what the biggest
PR campaign was in 2012. Being a PR student myself there were a few
good campaigns that i personally liked in 2012, but RED BULL STRATOS
did it for me!!
The Red Bull Stratos is one of the most
recent PR campaigns that I have admired and also is an example of PR at its
best. Sponsoring Felix Baumgartner’s record-breaking jump in 2012 stipulated
Red bull with a huge global exposure as well as public approval. Not only was
the campaign promoted through social media and but it also received remarkable
mainstream media coverage from round the globe, making top story news in
numerous newspapers and magazines. This PR stunt was also an excellent example
of word of mouth as everyone was talking about it. From
a PR perspective it’s impressive how the stunt was intensively covered by major
media outlets pre, during and post event. Red Bull made sure that the whole two
hours of the stunt were reported live on the YouTube stream, which allowed
anyone around the world to closely watch the feat. And it broke records as
eight million people were watching not only the jump, but also the Red Bull
logo and branding. Talking about online, the campaign achieved thousands of
followers and fans on various social media networks; with 3 million tweets it
was the most talked about topic for days. Such buzz created amazing engagement
opportunities for the brand.
Red Bull was
right on point - creating a campaign that truly exemplified their tagline -
"Red Bull Gives You Wings."
